Chargify Managed Sales Tax and BYOA (Avalara) Service Interruption
Incident Report for Chargify
Resolved
Between March 21 2023 10:15 UTC and March 24 2023 16:00 UTC, there was an interruption in the functionality of the “Chargify Managed Sales Tax” and “BYOA (Avalara)” services. During this period, the services did not request tax rates from Avalara if the address was missing a zip code, or given a partial address. This issue occurred due to a recent change in how we requested tax rates from Avalara, which has since been rolled back.

We would like to remind our customers that according to our documentation, a full address is required for taxation purposes. However, prior to the recent change, Avalara may have allowed taxation for subscriptions with partial addresses.

We suggest reviewing all subscriptions with partial addresses that may have been billed during the impacted period. If any of these subscriptions were not charged taxes, we recommend creating an ad-hoc invoice to collect the taxes that are due.

We apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused, and we are committed to providing you with the highest level of service possible. Please contact our support team if you have any questions or concerns.
